About me:
[Insert clever intro, personal interests, end on witty remark that shows readers that I’m eccentric but lovable] Oh, wait. I was supposed to fill that in, wasn’t I? Alright, here goes. I’m a writer, but you already know that – that’s why you’re looking at my website. But to elaborate on that… I’ve been writing short stories since sixth grade, scripts since ninth grade, novels since twelfth grade, non-fiction articles since I graduated, and website bios for the last fifteen minutes. I’ve been a reader since I was four. This gave me a superiority complex at the ripe old age of seven, which would later be revoked when I went through a reading drought during most of high school. I didn’t have much time for leisure reading between forging through Jane Austen’s lengthy descriptions and deciphering William Shakespeare’s scripts. (Meanwhile, the bard rolls over in his grave as another English teacher misinterprets his dirty jokes as symbolism and crowns them a paragon of the English language.)
Aside from reading and writing, I love listening to and making music, watching movies, playing D&D, and making batches of buttercream frosting to be eaten on cinnamon cookies or straight from the bowl. I spend very little of my time writing personal bios – which is probably obvious to you – but I find it highly entertaining to insert sarcastic quips as a distraction from the difficult task of remembering defining traits about myself.
About my writing:
I am a freelance author, and I am currently querying my debut novel, The Reaper. This novel blends urban fantasy with elements of romance, magical realism, political intrigue, and organized crime, to create a gritty, realistic world. Starting in 2019, I wrote and produced four full-length stage plays. Oh– need I mention that they’re comedies? Or is that redundant after the clown show that I’ve put on in my personal bio? I have also written short stories in a multitude of genres, some of which can be found in limited-edition anthologies.
Now, I’ll shift gears into a more serious tone… because contrary to what you might believe after the last few paragraphs, a large portion of my work is not comedy. My writing appeals to anyone who is looking for unique perspectives on genres that have become supersaturated with the same overused trends and tropes. In all of my stories, I like to weave in universal truths about human nature. I hope that you will find reflections of yourself in my words, whether it’s in a character who perseveres through impossible odds, or one who is lost and trying to survive in a world of uncertainties. My characters’ journeys belong to you, dear readers, for better or worse, and I welcome you as we explore these worlds together.
Every good writer should be influenced by the art around them.
Below, I have included some of the art that has deeply influenced me and my work.
